On the West Coast of Vancouver Island in BC, Canada. You can get there from Nanaimo through Lake Cowichan and Port Renfrew or from Victoria through Sooke. North of Jordan River by about 10 minutes, South of Port Renfrew by about 40 minutes. Park at China Beach Day Use Right-hand-side parking lot and follow Juan de Fuca Trail towards the Ocean. Follow path for 2km (approximately 45mins - 1hr), keep right when you can hear the water. You can hang at the beach for the day, or camp overnight, or you can continue up the trail along the Juan de Fuca.

Camping is permitted on the beach however there are really only about 4-5 little nooks that are well and truly safe from the tide. We camped on the sand as high as we could go and some giant logs saved half our group but kept the others up into early hours. Camping Permits (around $10 pp/pn) cover camping and parking and are run by provincial authority.

Wave is a shoredump but might work on the right swell direction for a bodyboard. Bodysurfing is up for grabs but there is established kelp and plant life so keep an eye out or cop a kelp in the eye.

There are Drop toilets available so bring TP. There is also a Bear safe Food Cache in one of the nooks. Beautiful beach with lots of sun, sand, and a waterfall. There is a rope swing in early 2015 but who knows how long that will last. Dogs were on beach but no doggie bags so bring your own if you bring a canine friend.
