Walk the Bluffs in Dana Point

Dana Point is a small beach town in Southern California offering tasty food, small beaches, and amazing sunsets. One of the best locations to catch a Dana Point sunset is the bluffs! I would recommend arriving about 30 minutes prior to sunset--the trail itself only takes about 10 minutes to reach a lookout point. Located off of Scenic Drive, follow the road all the way to the end where you will find a small parking lot. If there is not space in the parking lot, feel free to park along the street on the hill--it's free! 

Before hitting the trail, be sure to take in the view of the Dana Point Harbor below to the left. At the start of the trail, there is a gate, which is kept unlocked until sunset. Follow the trail out onto the bluffs, where you will find multiple lookout points with benches and wildlife information. If you get lucky, you might even see a whale in the summer! You should be able to hear the seals on the buoy straight out in the water year round. Pack dinner with you or grab some dessert and sit on one of the multiple benches located along the trail as the boats sail back to the harbor and the sun dips below the horizon.
