Great hike on the first day to hit 70F this year! The trail itself is pretty wet with spots of mud. If you're nimble enough you can get by without waterproof shoes. If not, just wear wool socks. Snow was in abundance on the trail around the lake. Lots of dogs running around jumping on the snow. Very picturesque and high payoff for the amount of effort required. Wish I could submit a photo!

Rattlesnake Ledge, with Mt. Si and Poo Poo Point are likely the three most popular hikes for Seattlelites and visitors. There close enough and not strenuous enough that most anyone can complete it. That being said, Rattlesnake is the shortest of the three and offers a great view so it gets super packed on weekends. I'm talking about not having any solitude at all. It's a bit better during the week but you'll still run into a lot of people. The view at the ledge is great, especially when the lake isn't dry like it was last summer. I had a great time win my dog. It's a great beginning of season hike to get back into shape for longer hikes.

I didn't have the foresight to make this into an awesome camping trip so I did the whole 18 miles out and back. We started at 10 AM and got out around 5 PM. It was an amazing trip-- albeit a bit strenous as the longest hike I did before that was 14 miles. I am definitely going back this year to try Black Tusk!
