R2R tops my list as one of my all time favs. Making the short 20 minute detour off the main trail over to Ribbon Falls is totally worth it. It's like a little oasis in the middle of the desert.

Locals call this park El Moro. To save yourself the $15 parking fee, I like to access the park via the Ridge Park Entrance to Crystal Cove State Park on the opposite side of the park. Parking on the street is free, but can be crowded, especially on weekends. Arrive early to find parking. There's a multitude of trails to take, just bring a map. And also bring lots of water, it can get very hot in the canyon. I've seen rattlesnakes, coyotes, and bobcats here. Luckily no mountain loins though. Just be on the look out!

If you've already made it this far to the falls, why not go a little farther! You can you can extend your hike east to Yosemite Point (follow signs for North Dome; adds 1.6 miles round trip to this hike). It offers direct views to Half Dome and a stunning panorama of other High Sierra peaks.
