I am a Father, Photographer, Adventurer, and World Explorer (26 countries and counting). I'm from the Bay Area but I'm currently living outside of Richmond, Virginia.

Jones River Falls has a nice hike to a beautiful waterfall. It's also just down the trail from Doyle River Falls which is another great waterfall in Shenandoah.

This is a great place to camp and has some of the darkest skies on the east coast, making it an ideal place for astro photography and star gazing.

Lindy Point in m opinion has one of the best views in West Virginia. it is very easy to get to and the trail is short and fairly flat. This is a great location to watch the sunset.

No matter what time of year this waterfall is always worth seeing. It's very easy to get to and well worth the trip.

This is a fun hike and I recommend bringing your swim suit because there are some great swimming holes along the trail.

Maymont is a great spot to take the whole family. The guardians are beautiful and they also have some live animals, which are my kids favorite part.

Make sure you follow Jess's directions at the begin!!! The first turn at the camp site can easily be missed, but after that the trail is very easy to follow.

This is a great hike for families. The west facing view make it a nice location to watch the sunset. The parking lot is very small (4 or 5 cars) but don't worry if it is full 0.4 miles north along sky line is Stony Man Overlook (mile marker 41.7) has a lot of parking spots. Once parked just hop of the AT and head south to the cliffs.

This is the tallest mountain in Shenandoah National Park and has a great west facing view, which makes it ideal for watching the sunset (just remember to bring your head lamp). This is also a great place to view and photography birds riding the thermals.

This is a great location to watch the sunset along the Blue Ride Parkway. Because of the great view that people are able to enjoy my just driving up and parking this is a very popular spot for sunset so plan to get there early because the parking lot fills up fast.

This short hike has some amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Once you get to the top I have found the best way to get onto the top of the rock is to follow the pink ribbon about 200-300 yards round the rock to the left. If you are like me and have young kids (1 and 4) the rock scrabble is possible (did it the first time) but hiking around the rock to the left will lead you to a nice gradual slop that is much easier to hike up to get onto of the rock.

This is a VERY Popular Hike but for good reasons. The 360 view at the top is breathtaking. When I first moved to Virginia and who ask people where I should go they all recommended Old Rag. The hike itself is great and the rock scrambled near the summit is a lot of fun. Even though it is popular I highly recommend it.

This is a great waterfall to see during the Spring of after a huge rain storm. During late summer and fall this waterfall is usually just a trickle. This is also a great hike for families, I've taken my two sons (1 and 4) down to this waterfall with no problem.

This is a very beautiful waterfall and is very popular because of the short hike and because its right next to Big Meadow Campground. This is a great hike for families; Ive taken both my boys (1 and 4) down to the falls with no problem. If you are filling adventurous you can hike the "Three Falls Loop" which will take you to see Dark Hollow Falls, Rose River Falls, and Lewis Spring Falls for a total of 6.1 miles.

White Oak Canyon has some amazing waterfall right off the trail. This is one of the most popular trail in Shenandoah so expect to see a lot of people, but don't let that deter you, there is a great reason why it is so popular. I've hiked this trail from both the top (Skyline Drive) and the bottom and I recommend starting from the bottom. If you start the hike from the bottom you able to see both of the both large waterfalls and you can also turn it into a loop and see the waterfalls along the Cedar Run Trail.

Blackrock Summit has by far the best view in the southern district of Shenandoah National Park. This 270 degree view is a great spot in the park to watch both sunrises and sunsets. Because of the great views and the short hike this is a VERY popular hike, and it is great for families. I have taken my two boys (1 and 4) on this hike with no problem.

This is my favorite waterfall in the the park. The hike down to the fall is very beautiful and is great for families. I've taken my two boys (1 and 4) down to the falls and my 4 year old was able to hike the whole way with no problem. During the spring and winter there is a second waterfall about 0.25 miles further down the trail which is also worth seeing. If you are filling very adventures you can turn the hike into a 7.7mile loop and see Jones Run Falls as well.

Bearfence has in my opinion the best view in Shenandoah NP. The 360 view allows hikers to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets.
