Beautiful and on the easier side. The day I went I had the waterfall all to myself!

This is a well maintained paved path that runs through town. It actually is a lot longer than what this says, so you can make it as long/short as you want. It is good for families, pets on leash and has lights along the path. When I walked it on a Monday evening, there were several people walking, riding their bikes, roller blading and running.

Hiked on 6-18-2021 and took less than an hour. We had the waterfall to ourselves! The trail had some elevation, but well maintained. Definitely recommend!

Some get confused how to get to the trail head. I recommend driving past the Alsea Campground and take the next right. I can’t remember the sign exactly, but it does have Alsea Recreational area noted. It does cost $5 or you can use your pass if you have one. From the parking lot it’s a short hike to Alsea Falls. It is beautiful and raging this time of year. You can walk right up to it! Head back towards the parking lot and cross the bridge to go to Green Peak Falls. It’s a little over a mile and was muddy today (1/9/2021). You’ll follow the trail and it will turn into a wider road through campgrounds, but look for the signs and it will be easy to stay on the trail. Green Peak Falls is beautiful too! We passed several people on the trail, but the time we spent at Green Peak Falls we were alone. Not sure what the water is like in the summer, but this is a great hike to do in the winter!

Did this hike in 11/1/2020 and it was a perfect way to start November! The weather was beautiful and the trail was easy to follow. Passed a few people, but mostly had the trail to ourselves. Not much elevation, so great trail for beginners. Views of the lake were breathtaking! We took the detour to Sahalie Falls, and I had to use the map often. That’s another trail I’ll be doing in the future though. Overall, this was a great hike and I definitely recommend it!

This is a good, short hike. Several stairs which can be slippery when wet. This time of year the trail is muddy due to the rain, but still easy to do and fun. Lots of big leaves have fallen!

We hiked all 3 and each one was relatively easy. No rain recently, but I could see after rainy weather the trail to Pinard could get more dangerous as it is pretty steep the last .10 mile. The road to get to the hikes are narrow, so be prepared to pull over quickly if you see another car approaching. I was surprised how not busy these trails were for a Saturday afternoon. We were the only ones when we hiked to Pinard and back! Definitely nice hikes and easy to do all 3 in a short amount of time!

This is a relatively easy hike with minimal elevation gain. Definitely worked up a little sweat, but doable for most everyone, especially beginning hikers. Suspension bridge is really cool, but very narrow so it can be annoying to wait on people, especially if they’re not courteous enough to snap a couple pictures & move on, but feel the need to make it into a photo shoot...Enjoy the views in person ;)

Well marked trail, pretty much all uphill. Towards the top there’s still patches of snow (7/25/2020) but easily navigated without any special gear. Take it slow and enjoy the views. Even with training I still ended up suffering from altitude sickness around 8,000 feet (even camped night before at Moraine Lake) so recommend knowing your limits. Can’t wait to do it again!

Great spot to camp before and/or after hiking South Sister. The first part through the woods has lots of mosquitoes so bring bug spray. The hike to the lake is definitely a workout, especially with overnight gear, but worth it. The lake is cold, but refreshing to swim after hiking on a hot summer day. Lots of dispersed camping with beautiful views all around!

We did this hike on May 2 and there was still lots of snow, ended up not going all the way. We did it again today (7/11/2020) and it was PERFECT. It was definitely busier, but the wildflowers were blooming and the view of all the mountains at the top were amazing. On a clear day you can see Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington & Three Sisters (and more, there’s a nice map at the top to point out what you’re looking at if you’re not familiar with the area too!)

We hiked to the summit from trail 1324 E Ridge which was just over 1,500 feet elevation gain and we took some extra steps around to get there, but my tracker says 6.17 miles. We did it in about 3.5 hours. Beautiful hike with not too many people. Lots of beautiful flowers out 6-26-2020. There is a $5 fee to pay at the trail head. Would definitely do it again!

Easy hike with beautiful view of the falls!

I’ve done this hike before, but came again with friends on 5-30-2020. With all the rain recently, the waterfalls were flowing nicely. I recommend parking at the South Falls parking lot because it’s bigger and has an actual bathroom (North Falls parking lot has a outhouse that usually has a line). You can make the hike as long or short as you want. It took us around 3.5 hours to do the whole loop, but we were causally walking and taking time enjoying the falls. There are some slight hills, but nothing too steep. Beautiful loop that is worth taking the time to do the whole thing.

Quick and fairly easy hike that was a bit muddy on some parts of the trail due to recent rain. The parking lot is pretty small and signs that forbid street parking so beware. The drive is good until that last couple miles...lots of big potholes so I recommend having a bigger truck or something that could handle that. We did see smaller cars on the road, but I wouldn’t want to risk blowing out a tire or denting a wheel.

My fiancé and I did this hike last fall. Make sure you have a truck or 4 x 4 to get you up to the road, because it’s an old gravel forest road that is kind of sketchy to get there. We passed some people who must have been coming from other places around the area and they were driving recklessly on the 1 lane road before you reach the forest road, so definitely be a defensive driver! We got to the locked gait and couldn’t drive any further and there wasn’t much parking, but luckily we were the only ones there. The hike was pretty much straight up, but very doable. Amazing views of Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Hood and the Sisters on a clear day! The lookout itself was boarded up for the winter, but I would love to come back in the summer to stay overnight!

My fiancé and I hiked this last fall and it was absolutely stunning! I had hiked it previously by myself a couple years before on the 4th of July and it was really busy. The trail is pretty easy, some slight hills, but good for families. When we went last fall, there were only a few other hikers we passed so it was nice to have that somewhat secluded feel! There were lots of beautiful leaves and fall colors to enjoy!
