adventure is out there

The canals are pretty cool considering their location in SoCal. The water levels can get pretty low, especially during the dry parts of the year, so time your visit accordingly! Otherwise it's a great place to take a casual stroll.

The hike to the falls is short, sweet and relatively easy. There are two bridges you'll have to cross along with climbing several stairs or ramps. Take caution if there's still packed snow on the ground because the hike to the top of the viewing deck can get pretty slippery! All in all it was a beautiful waterfall and not so crowded near dusk.

We camped during peak season in November and it was pretty crowded at the Borrego Palm Canyon site. There were several college-esque parties occurring throughout the night, so if you're looking for solitude, head out to the primitive campsites. There's plenty to do here and the 4x4 trails are awesome! Photo ops are amazing throughout the park whether it's day or night.

There are very few trails to hike near the West Chester area, but this is definitely one of the best in the area. There is plenty of parking and many picnic tables. I love running this trail especially during the cooler fall months.
