Exploring Pam's Grotto

This was one of those adventures that you look back on and think you are crazy for doing, we probably are, but we started this hike at 1am during thunder storms. Half way through the hike we couldn't help but to laugh after attempting to jog up a hill in rain so thick we couldn't see 10 feet up the trail.

Anyways, this really is one of the coolest trails I have found in Arkansas. This valley has everything an adventurer could ever want! We camped behind the waterfall and woke up and climbed and hiked all day. Pam's Grotto is tucked away behind HUGE boulders and proves to be a popular place for climbers.To get to the trail head: The parking area is located near Haw Creek Falls Campground, which is located on AR Hwy 123 between Lamar and Pelsor/Scenic Hwy 7. From the road into the campground, head East for ½ mile, until you see a pulloff on your Right that leads down to a small parking area next to Haw Creek. The pulloff is super easy to miss and you WILL miss it if its dark and raining. Trust me. The trail begins Across the road from where you are parked, and to the right of a small creek that goes underneath the highway. Follow this trail uphill for about ¼ mile, until you reach the base of the bluffs. Turn Left and follow along the base of the bluffs for another ¼ mile, and then all of a sudden you will stumble upon the grotto.
