Stargaze and experience the famous Horseshoe Bend when there is little to no people there. This iconic location is amazing during the day but when you photograph it with stars in the sky, it is just a whole new experience. Located just minutes from Page AZ, you could spend a day in the slot canyons of Page and come to watch sunset and look at the stars for an excellent end to a day.

Horseshoe Bend is about a 10 minute drive southwest from Page, Arizona. Enter "Horseshoe Bend" into a GPS and you will get there just fine.

This adventure will have you going to this location at around sunset or at night, the trail to the vista is simple to find and very self explanatory but if you are hiking this at night definitely bring a flash light or a headlamp as it gets difficult to see features in the terrain, especially when your are looking at the bend itself. A slip and fall could happen very easily if one is not careful.

Upon arrival you can select any area you please but be aware that there are occasionally other photographers trying to do the same thing so please be courteous of others especially if you plan on light painting.

A good way to choose your shooting location is to have a map of the stars and milky way or just take a test shot and compose based on where everything is.

Shot settings will vary based on camera models but I have found that with a Canon 6D a 30 second exposure at ISO 1600 with an aperture of about f2.8 you can get some stunning shots.

NOTICE - I cannot stress enough that at night this is not a place to run around jumping from rock to rock so again please be cautious if you choose to come at night.
