Hike to Fremont Saddle

6 miles 500 ft gain  - Out-and-Back Trail

Added by Breanne McNitt

Hike the Peralta Trail through the beautiful Superstition Mountains to this breath-taking view of Weavers Needle.

After taking Peralta Road all the way to the end, park your car in the parking lot and you'll see the sign for the trail head. Sign in at the register and then begin our hike on Peralta Trail.

This trail winds through the canyon and then takes you up switch backs until you reach the saddle.  The breath-taking view of Weavers Needle may convince you to stop here for the day, but I suggest going a bit farther.

From the Saddle you will see a tree off to the right a bit- that is your next destination.  So head right (North) on the trail and follow this path until you get to your final destination for the day.  Scramble around on the rocks and enjoy a beautiful view of Weavers Needle while you eat some snacks.

After taking in this view for as long as you please, turn back around and head down the way you came.  A quick decent will get you back to the trail register in no time.

Awesome hike To Weaver’s Needle!

My daughter and I hiked this trail yesterday (4Dec2017) and it was awesome! Go as early as you can because picture taking is great with the low angle of the sun. It’s a pretty steady continuous climb so take plenty of short breaks. Be sure to look around during your breaks because the view behind you is just as good as the one in front of you! I hiked this trail with my wife one month ago and we did not take the extra short trail off to the east to get closer to the needle. Wow it is incredible over there! A must do, so read the trail description and make sure to tack this on!

Geronimo's cave

After you reach Fremont Saddle you can take a side trail to Geronimo's Cave on the east. Then hook up with Barks Canyon trail. Make a loop out of it. About 7 miles. Be sure to look this up on a topo map first so you are prepared.
