Hike the Deem Hills Loop

Arizona Deem Hills Park

Added by The Outbound Collective

This 5-mile Deem Hills Recreation Area loop offer great views of the greater Phoenix area. This loop has shorter options if you're not up for the full 5 miles.

Deem Hills West is a relatively new hiking area, opened just in 2010. This means it's not quite as well known and you have a good chance of a more secluded experience. The lack of crowds is no indication of the quality though...the trails are nice and the views are pretty spectacular.

Walk to the north end of the parking lot to find the trailhead for the Circumfrence Trail, which leads you...you guessed it, around the circumfrence of the park. You can take the whole loop for a total of 6 miles roundtrip or take a left on the Ridgeline Trail to head up to the summit, then continue until you reconnect with the Cirucumfrence Trail. This ends up being just under 4 miles.

How to Get There

Fun, lesser known trail!

This is not my favorite hike in the Phoenix area, but it definitely has advantages due to being lesser known. Lower traffic and a well developed trail are great perks! This has been one of the trails featured in the annual Phoenix Seven Summits Challenge.

Great Mtn Biking

I have come to really enjoy this ride. It is rocky and challenging, but a good time. The loop can be done in 30-45 min for an average experienced rider (if you go clockwise and go over the saddle). Trail seems to have less traffic than others in the area. I would rate this on the more advanced end of trails because of the rockiness. There are a couple sections that are pretty fun for technical downhill. Might be rated black diamond for some riders.
