Tallest mountain around SedonaPanoramic-view of Sedona, Oak Creek, and even of the San Francisco Peaks.
The Wilson Mountain Trail heads north from the Midgley Bridge picnic area at a monument to Richard Wilson, who was killed by a grizzly in this area in 1885. Wilson Mountain is 7,122 feet tall and the trail is 4.5 miles long. The elevation gain 2400 feet and you climb most of it in the first mile. So stop and take a breather along this route and the views keep getting better.
There is shade along parts of this trail but enough of it is out in the open to make it difficult during the summer. At the top you'll be rewarded with views that stretch over hundreds of square miles of scenic Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona and the San Fransisco Peaks.
