The Mountain Hardwear Women's Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket is ready for backcountry touring, winter ascents, long belays, and hut-to-hut trips. The lightweight 7Dx10D Whisperer ripstop nylon works with the lighweight down to make this jacket weigh a mere 6oz; the lightest down jacket on the market. The 800-fill Q.shield insulation provides plenty of warmth without weight while you're on belay or ripping skins, and it resists moisture so a little water won't thwart your insulation. A single interior toggle hem saves on weight and makes adjustments quick and easy. And with its stowable design, you can quickly stuff it in one of its two zippered hand pockets and throw it in your pack whenever you're headed to the hills.

So lightweight and comfortable, I bought my husband one too!
I bought the ghost whisperer for both backpacking adventures and work (airplane) travel to cold climates. It's ultralight, super packable, and fits nicely under my rain shell layer. The fabric is soft and moves well. Haven't had mine long, so I can't speak to durability but expect that extra care will need to be taken with it, as with most ultralight clothing. Really enjoy that it packs down into a pocket for easy stowage. Awesome product! Now all I need are some pants of the same material and I'll be set....

Love it so far
I haven't had a chance to really test this jacket in the backcountry but so far I love it. Can't beat the warmth to weight ratio and the color is great.

Perfect to bring on traveling
I was just able to receive the ghost whisper jacket a day before my spring traveling. I was excited. I double checked to make sure all seams are matched and the feather is evenly distributed. No visible hole as well. It is very light and very convenient to carry with either to the plane or day trip. Once I put it on, I feel the warmth which is very good. However, there are a couple of drawbacks after used for less than a month on the road: 1.) Down feather keeps on coming out to the clothes underneath every time I wore it. Not just 1 feather each time, but a few. It should NOT be normal with the amount losing every time! Making me afraid how long this jacket can be lasted to keep me warm when feather keeps losing quick. Not sure it is quality issue on my jacket specifically!! 2.) The zipper is not very smooth. This jacket is using a petite zipper from YKK which is one of the best zipper maker in the world. However, the zipper seems too weak(maybe for reduced weight purspose) and the head seems easy to break. Moreover,it is the most important that it is not very easy to zip up while the interlocking is able to close, but it is always difficult to slice up from the zipper head at the bottom. Not sure another quality issue this jacket specifically has, too!

Excellent mid to outer layer
I love my Ghost! I recently upgraded from a previous year’s color to the Zinc in a Small (I’m 5’11” &150lbs) and the fit and color is great! Long enough in the arms and torso. It’s the perfect insulation layer because of its lightweight loft and slim style. It also functions decently to block the wind. I wear it hiking, camping, around town, and it packs well into it’s pocket for easy storage.

My Go-to for lightweight warmth
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this to keep with my camping & travel gear for a shot of packable warmth on chilly mornings and evenings. It's perfect, compressing down into a pocket. I ordered a size up to be able to accommodate bulkier layers and that was spot on too. Great addition to my technical gear with a nice cut and look for other adventures, too.

Great ultra-lite layer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as part of a layering system for the high Sierras and general backpacking: base layer, fleece, this puffy jacket, and if wind or rain, a waterproof shell jacket on top (fleece and/or puffy are ditched if it's warm enough). When I put it on I immediately felt it trapping in heat, and I was toasty warm. There does seem to be a little extra fabric that bunches up around the shoulders, but since I'm just using it as part of a layer system and I'll usually be wearing a backpack over my shoulders that's not a deal-breaker for me. If a perfect fitted look is important to you I would consider that. I of course also like it because it's very light and packs up into a little package into one of the pockets. Perfect to throw in the bottom of my every-day hiking pack for emergencies and not even notice it. The look of the material does somewhat resemble a stitched up garbage bag but that's ok with me, it's how these puffies just look and it's about utility to me not fashion. I haven't used it yet in real world conditions, but so far so good and I'm looking forward to really testing it in the Sierras this summer.

Warm and light as a feather
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket for a backpacking trip in Montana, and when it arrived I couldn't stop wearing it. I've been wearing it to work and while running errands. It's incredibly warm, but so light it's unbelievable. Definitely worth the price. Can't wait to wear it on the trails!!

Was too big
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The fit was too big for me. I need a small. Quality is great and so is the color combo.
