I have only ever been here in the winter. It’s an AMAZING place to snowshoe with some hills and a gorgeous waterfall.

I love Christman’s. I grew up in Duanesburg and this was a family favorite for warm summer day hikes. In the past few years, however, there has been so much more graffiti and trash, people don’t stay on trail, and often people leave food scraps after they leave. With that said, it is still a beautiful place for a short day hike. The waterfall and natural pool are beautiful, and the hills offer a nice challenge. I always bring a bag to collect trash. It’s a great way to teach others the importance of LNT and respect for the environment!

Hurricane honestly has the best effort-to-reward payoff of all peaks in the ADK, in my opinion. The trail is steep at the end, but the views even before the summit are amazing. My SO and I took our dog here for her first big-ish hike and she did great. Leash laws are in effect here and we did see some rangers, so make sure you’ve got ahold of your pup the whole time! Base-summit was just less than 2 hours (with snow/ice and a sniffy dog), and the whole thing including breaks was about 4.5 hours.
