This is a really beautiful and historic place. Surrounded by moss oak trees, this "Greek Style" brick church is in ruins but still standing.
The Old Sheldon Church ruins are a historic site in near Beaufort, SC. This church was burned down by the British in 1779 during the Revolutionary War. Rebuilt in 1826 and burned down again during the Civil war by the Union Army. It is about 15 miles from Beaufort and 2 miles from the 21/17 exit.
It is known as a destination for photographers however and weddings. There are picnic tables if you wanted to stop and have some lunch!
