Why do New Orleanians love City Park? Because it combines authentic New Orleans heritage with beauty and fun in a laid back environment suitable for all ages.
Whether you want to Kayak through the waterways, throw the frisbee on the Great Lawn, or Eno on an Oak Tree, New Orleans City Park just about has it all. The Park is 1300 acres of beauty, adventure, and fun for all ages and for all times of the year. Story land and the theme park are perfect places to bring the entire family to have some quality fun. The art garden and the NOMA (New Orleans Museum of Art) are also popular places to visit. During the Christmas season, City Park's beauty is shown even more with a Christmas light scene, Christmas in the Oaks, taking over much of the Park.
You can rent Kayaks, Bikes, Canoes, SUPs, and other types of transportation for easy maneuvering about the park. There are tons of oak trees to Eno in and climb to either take that perfect picture or just for fun!
The running track fits a great need for exercise as well as an easy way not to get lost! Many people also Yoga on either the Great Lawn or around the NOMA.
Parking is super easy. The park offers tons of parking along the outskirts of the park as well as inside the park. Wherever you enter the park from, you are sure to be able to find a parking spot.
I recommend entering by Tad Gormley stadium off of Marconi Avenue. If you enter in that area, Morning Call, ponds, the Great Lawn, City Putt and good picture spots are all over the place in that area. The location is the location of City Putt, the miniature golf course. Here you can find good parking and much more.
Whether you want to photograph true New Orleans beauty, play a few rounds of Putt Putt or Golf, skateboard on the many smooth roads, get some coffee and beignets at Morning Call, listen to a concert, or just relax with a fishing pole a cold drink, New Orleans City Park has it all and the adventure never stops.
