Explore the Capilano Suspension Bridge
North Vancouver, British Columbia
Description
Added by Ian Tyley
This unique suspension bridge offers scenic forest views just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
This is a great place to visit to get a feeling for the outdoors of Canada. The bridge is a little scary when a lot of people are walking across, but it is well worth the look.
Measuring 140 m (460 ft) long, the bridge crosses over the Capilano River in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and sits 70 m (230 ft) above the river.

I would skip this one and head over to Lynn Canyon instead - free and beautifully l in comparison.

This is a must-do in Vancouver. My expectations were high but it was WAY cooler than I expected. The bridge itself is definitely what pulls the crowds, but the Cliff Walk and the Treetop Adventure were both awesome as well. I went on a weekday and it was still pretty crowded until the last hour they were open. Around 7pm most people had left and I was able to shoot some solo photos of the bridge. I would go right when they open or a few hours before they close if you want to avoid the crowds. Give yourself plenty of time because there is a lot to do here!

When we were visiting, Vancouver was having a really bad storm that wiped out power some parts of the city. Unfortunately (but good thing for us!), one of the spots that was hit with no power was the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and admission was half price. Surprisingly it was still crowded! We waited about 30 - 40 minutes in line to pay for our admission tickets. The office had to manually charge people, writing out receipts and accepting cash. Finally we got in and enjoyed walking across the packed bridge. Unique attraction!! I've never really been on a suspension bridge before, so this was neat. Gorgeous area, hands down. We explored the area after crossing the bridge -- walking through the treetop exhibit. That was another fun thing to do. Great place to bring the family and just explore for an hour or two. Super crowded though. Another great place to experience a suspension bridge is up in Squamish at the Sea to Sky Gondola.

Despite my fear of heights, I absolutely loved the views that the bridge offers! Really enjoyed the Treetop Adventures and the chance to walk amongst the old Douglas Fir trees.

Love this park. Don't be afraid to go in the rain! Rain often means much less crowds and more of the park to yourself! During the winter months they introduce "Canyon Lights" and the whole park is decorated with Christmas lights...so beautiful!
