The best part of the trip was a combination of seeing the city lights below and the sunrise views at the peak as the sun gently kisses the surrounding landscape good morning. Its like hiking for the sunset, except one does not have to hike down in the dark, which, in my opinion is more dangerous considering this is a steep hike.

I usually start my hikes around 4:30 AM in the morning, but please do so at your own risk. The Stanford Staging Site is opens at 6:30 AM and citations can be placed against you. Just make sure to check the expected sunrise for the day. I was fortunate enough to make my trip a combination of full moon hike and a sunrise hike. It takes me around one and a half hour to leisurely make it to the top. There are several bench along the way to catch your breath so do not worry. Be warned, the final third of the hike is very steep so be very careful.

Starting point for this particular trail is at the Stanford Avenue Parking Entrance. It is an open parking space so there are no fees to pay.Starting Elevation: ~ 381ftPeak Elevation: ~2517 ftElevation Gain: ~2136 ftRoute: Stanford Staging Site > Peak Meadow Trail (2.11 mi) > Hidden Valley Trail (0.65 mi) > Grove Trail (0.3 mi) > Peak Trail (0.48 mi)Total Miles (One Way): 3.54 mi
