Trail Run or Hike Monte Sano

Enter Monte Sano State Park through the main entrance (Google Maps will bring it right up), there is a $5.00 park entrance fee per person. Continue following the main road, past the lodge and you will come to the main hikers lot (pictured above) on the right. From here there is a Trail Head Bulletin with all of the trails listed. You will notice that none of the trails exceed 2.5 miles, but you can easily combine a number of trails to reach your desired mileage.

6.5 Mile LoopStart hiking/running North on the North Plateau Loop (Blue), going out of the parking lot. Turn RIGHT on Cold Springs (Red). Turn RIGHT onto Mountain Mist (Yellow). Turn L on second entrance to the Sinks trail (Red). Turn RIGHT on Goat Trail (Black), this will be the longest stretch of trail. Turn RIGHT on War Path (Red), this will be the steepest section of trail. Then finish with a RIGHT on South Plateau Loop (White).

This route does not have a lot of elevation gain but there is one steep, rocky section (War Path Trail). Otherwise this is a scenic, slightly rocky, wooded loop with the occasional deer sighting.
